Here you will find a selection of handcrafted ceramics made by Totem Ceramics' teachers and students.

During our carefully structured 6-class course we will guide you step by step through 6 projects to teach you the basics of pottery hand-building and decoration techniques.
You will learn the commonly used hand-building methods of pinching, coiling, slab-building, sculpture and slump molds.
You will use brush on glazes, dipping glazes, oxide washes and try the fascinating decoration techniques of sgraffito and majolica.
By the end of the 6 classes you will not only have gained skills and knowledge, you will also have made and decorated several beautiful and unique ceramic items to take home:
- a candle lamp
- a usable mug
- a terracotta plant pot
- 2 embossed dishes
- 4 decorative tiles
- a small animal sculpture
This course can be enjoyed as a standalone toe dip into the wonderful world of pottery or as an entry level introduction to skills you can develop further in our small group classes.
Pottery has the added benefit of being a therapeutic pastime, conducive to a feeling of inner calm and an almost meditative state.
